SAM Corruption in Windows XP

Windows XP SAM (Security Accounts Manager) is a database registry file storing user's passwords and uses hash format. A Windows XP installed computer might fail to start if the file goes missing or damaged. For solving such problems, use the file backup provided you have backed up the system state or try to copy it using parallel installation. However, if none of the measures works, perform clean Windows XP installation and restore data from backup.   delete c:windowssystem32configsam
  copy c:windowsrepairsam c:windowssystem32configsam



• Replace the SAM file by reinstalling Windows XP. Restore data from backup
